Are you looking for an inspiring location and professional support to write your business building book?

Then join us on our next writing retreat: 19-24 September 2019

Many authors get stuck with either starting or finishing their book. Many believe this is due to lack of time, and yet in our experience it is often due to lack of clarity and confidence and not knowing exactly how to set yourself up for success.

No matter how much you plan and schedule time at home for writing, other things and people can keep getting in the way and you may well find that there never seems to be enough time to get your book done.

When your motivation wanders off, it is so easy to get stuck and put your book on the back burner for far longer than you ever intended.

Have you reached that point where that niggle to write is now a burning desire, and you just have to make your book a reality?

Whether you are looking for support to shift the emotional blocks that are preventing you from showing up, or you simply want a tranquil space to do your best work, this retreat will provide you with the space, time and skilled facilitation to write at your best.

"The writing retreat is more than a space for writing, experimenting with your words and getting feedback. It's about understanding your process. It's about getting insight into what you want to say. It's about rest. There's a lot of self-discovery in this space - reflection, soul searching and exploring your creative side deeply. Being out in Spain in such stunning scenery with the beautiful colours of the sunrises and sunsets and wildlife adds to the experience".

Just imagine...

  • 1.

Time away in a beautiful space working on your book, with three skilled retreat facilitators and fellow authors sharing the journey with you, and inspiring you with structure and flow.

  • 2.

Not being distracted by the other urgent stuff in your life and guilt-free time to focus on your book and your dream to be a published author.

  • 3.

Being able to eat when you want to eat, rest when you want to rest, and write when you want to write, with free time to follow your own flow.

Whether you need uninterrupted time to write, facilitated time to get your ideas and thoughts clear, or space to plan, this is a unique opportunity for you to follow your heart and learn to do what works for you.

And if you know you crave the idea of stopping and resting, but find it so hard to stop, this is your opportunity to get support to learn how to explore what your needs are and exactly how they can be met.

This is the ideal space to get started if you are in the early stages of working out what kind of book you want to write and starting the planning process. You can also use this time to review or edit your first draft.

And if you are on the home run and close to being published (or you've already got your book in your hands), this is a great space to consider how you will use your book to market and grow your business effectively.

This is your chance to make you, your book and your business a priority

With daily walks and focused writing time - our writing retreats offer space and time away from the distractions of day-to-day life, blended perfectly with downtime to reflect and relax.

You can step back from reality and interact with other writers who understand the pain and the desire of getting a book finished, and you can spend time on your own guilt-free.

You can write safe in the knowledge that an experienced and knowledgeable book mentor is just a few steps away when you need one-to-one support.

If you know you have to get away and you hate the thought of being somewhere entirely on your own, then this retreat is for you.

If you need the balance of time to write and interaction to inspire your thinking, then please join us.

You'll leave with a clearer understanding of your next best steps on your journey as an author.

The journey of an author itself will help you tune into and truly listen to your own wisdom, giving you greater confidence in yourself and your story. And there is nothing quite like that feeling when someone else tells you how your book has changed their life.

Imagine your book launch with your book in your hand, knowing you have even greater clarity and confidence in what you know as well as increased visibility, and more client bookings.

What would it be like to know that your wisdom will live on as a legacy of your experiences?

You'll be attracting clients who already know what you do and how you work, so you no longer have to sell, you simply attract. Then what happens?

Please join Karen Williams and the Librotas Writing Retreats team who will ensure you experience a beautiful, inspiring and soul nourishing environment.

Supported by our coaching retreat expert, Rebecca Adams, you are guaranteed to experience something quite special. The fresh air and the laid-back way of life will inspire you to just be with yourself, your thoughts and your book.

Not only will you get plenty of time to put words down on paper, you will also benefit from the opportunity of peer support over dinner, and guided walks if you want to explore and stretch your legs.

You'll be prepared for the retreat before you arrive, so that you get the most out of the experience. Your trip is fully inclusive from the time you arrive in Malaga.

I am delighted to be collaborating with Sheryl Andrews, The Strength and Solution Detective. She joined us in 2015 to work on her first book, Manage your Critic: From Overwhelm to Clarity in 7 Steps, which was published in 2016. Sheryl will be on hand to support you when you need to gain greater clarity and confidence in yourself and your message.

We understand that you might still have some questions. It's a big thing writing a book and although you know it's important to you, there may be something that stops you.

If you're anything like most people, you'll probably be worrying about the investment. Now here's the thing, when you've written your book it will set you aside from others and it will put you in a different league from your peers - and you'll certainly be raising your fees.

When you're joining us for the writing retreat, you are getting a five night fully inclusive break away with access to two high level coaches who normally charge £1200+VAT per day, plus the transformation that you'll get from the process of making your book happen.

Think of it as a holiday-feel with a purpose that you can include on your tax return!

From my experience, it's amazing the little nuggets that pop out whilst on a walk, in a chat over dinner, as well as in the formal one-to-one and group sessions.

We want to give you the gift of time. The pace of life slows down, you'll become more focused and productive without day-to-day distractions getting in your way.

Sheryl, Rebecca and I do hope to see you at one of our retreats!

Testimonials and case studies

Case study from the 2016 writing retreat

When Martine was asked the question- the retreat was like what? She said:

It was very professional and it was in a very cool environment and I got so much clarity.

As facilitators, you complement each other so well. In my mind I had so many goals and high expectations of myself to write lots. I felt I had to make the most of the time. I put huge amounts of pressure on myself because it was the first time I had left my boys for that length of time and as a result I found myself feeling very emotional.

Thanks to the magical space and the high quality of facilitation I was able to work through those feelings and gain clarity of the structure I needed to not only create space in mind to write on the retreat but also to set myself up for success when I returned.

Many things have changed as a result of the retreat but the most magical for me is the dynamics between my partner and my son. There has been such a massive shift. I know it is me that has changed and yet they also seem to have changed. I am aware I am being different and so things are different with them too. Just sharing my story made me realise how important it is for me to share my experience to prevent others from suffering with their money story that keeps them trapped in a prison.

I now feel more respected and more loving.

I am now able to do and ask for the things that feed my own needs. And it is like the calmness and tranquillity of the retreat has come home with me and I now feel more present with my teenage son and more able to listen, advise and coach him through his anger, fear and frustrations.

With regards to business I am more disciplined with my time and the more I write the more clarity and confidence I gain about how I work and how I add value. And even when I am not writing the ideas, case studies and evidence are formulating in my mind. I feel lighter in myself and like there is less pressure and I can already feel clients being attracted to me.

And it is the little things that I would not have expected from the retreat that have also created changes. The simple act of you sharing my story on Facebook and tagging me meant that my friends became aware that I was writing a book and that gave me the confidence to talk to them about it and now I have support and encouragement.

The video interviews we did in the pool for fun gave me an experience of video marketing that I felt comfortable with and I know that will have an impact when it comes to promoting my book. I am not sure what you did but I now understand how to feel more and be more natural when talking on video. I think that is because we just had a go with no pressure, the positive feedback and the fact I am really engaging with my story and the power of it.

The Pathway to Wealth Within

I attended Karen's writing retreat for the first time in Sept 2015 and if I am honest I had unrealistic expectations that I would pull together all my thoughts in just 5 days.

I knew that writing a book would bring up all kinds of personal demons and fear and this was just the perfect space to work through them. The facilitation, discussion and guidance were exquisite. What I gained from the retreat was massive personal growth and an inner confidence in my own unique writing style, a better understanding of the structure and framework needed for the book and greater confidence in myself as a writer. I have left the retreat with a clear deadline to publish the book and have every confidence with the continued support of Karen that I will achieve that.

Now I've published my books, I have returned as a co-facilitator, because I know the power of having a book, and I can’t think of a better space to help Karen's clients to develop their story and achieve their goals.

"The perfect retreat!"

This has been the best retreat for book writing and learning. Karen gave great support and encouragement, touching base with us, giving us intensive support when required, and the space to get on with our writing.

Everything was organised in conjunction with a local host who gave us all the best local food, cheese, and sights, without taking away valuable time for writing.

The location was lovely with beautiful scenery. It was the perfect retreat and highly recommended.

"Clarity and focus"

In the space of 5 days I have come up with a business and action plan that makes sense and is aligned and interconnected. I had no idea this is what the retreat would give me so, being open to go with the ‘flow’ has surprised me by the outcome and clarity that has emerged.

I’m very, very grateful for this and also for Karen’s gentle encouragement, ideas and support to make it happen.”

"Inspired in the mountains!"

This writing retreat has given me the time and space to form new habits and I know this will have a knock on effect on my life.

I've loved the fact that it has been fairly unstructured but Karen has been on hand and going with the group's needs each day.

The best thing is that I can see the end of my book - and I've planned 2 more!

Questions and answers

Here are some of the questions we've been asked and if there's anything else you wish to know, please contact me.

What is the ‘writing retreat’?

The writing retreat is a great opportunity for you to join my team and I in Spain for 5 nights to work on your book. We will support you at whatever stage you’re at, whether you’ve just started, are writing, in the editing stage, or are planning your marketing.

What’s included in the writing retreat price?

The writing retreat is fully inclusive from the moment you arrive in Malaga, so you don’t have to worry about unexpected expenses. This includes your transfer from Malaga, accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner with drinks, and coaching and mentoring support.

For Spain, all you need to do is book your flights – details will be provided – and arrange your travel insurance. Although you may wish to think about gifts for your family!

Also included to set you up for success and help you to get the most out of the retreat, you’ll have a 90-minute mentoring call with me before we go, a pre-retreat group call so we know what you wish to achieve on the retreat, access to the 10,000 word summer writing challenge free of charge, and follow-up support upon your return.

What if I have special requirements?

We organise our retreats so that you don’t have to worry about a thing. Just let us know about any special requirements.

To help us out in Spain, our host, Rebecca Adams, speaks fluent Spanish and organises everything for us, including meals out and local walks, and a welcome pack with fresh fruit and local produce upon arrival. Having lived in the village, Rebecca knows the local providers well and has a good working and professional relationship with them and you're likely to see things of interest that you might ordinarily miss.

How is the writing retreat structured?

Every day is semi-structured. We usually start with a walk, then you’ll have time to work on your book with coaching, mentoring and workshops. And in the evening, we’ll meet for dinner.

Why should I attend a retreat rather than work one-to-one with you?

From an investment point of view, working with me one-to-one costs £1200 per day and on the writing retreat you get access to me for four full days and two part-days for a fraction of my daily rate. You’ll have access to all that I know at a time and pace that works for you.

Plus, you get access to valuable coaching from my co-facilitator, Sheryl Andrews, author and ‘manage your critic’ expert. On our walks you will spend time with Rebecca, a fabulous coach and travel blogger, who inspires the adventurer in everyone she meets.

On a personal note, if you have always wanted to go on a retreat, you will know the courage it takes to step up to take time away from your business and home life. That alone can create massive shifts. You’ll give yourself permission to work on your book, and be inspired by the laid back way of life on the retreat.

You’ll have valuable time away completely free of any responsibility or distractions, other than focusing on your book and your own needs. And it’s amazing the nuggets that appear when you’re least expecting them, like around the pool or over a glass of wine in the evening, which would never happen in a formal environment.

Who else will be attending the retreat?

Typically on our writing retreats, you’ll be joined by a small number of like-minded authors, just like you, who will inspire you and motivate you, and become good friends when you get home.

What are the dates?

The next available writing retreat is 19-24 September in Spain and flight times will be advised.

What if I can’t make the dates?

We run the writing retreat annually in Spain. If this doesn't work for you, contact me to find out how I can help you on a 121 basis, our mastermind group or on one of our Make It Happen days.

Where will we be staying?

In Spain, we stay in rural apartments in a small village called Benaocaz in the Andalucian mountains, South West Spain, with its own salt water pool, terrace or balcony, and beautiful backdrop.

Why should I book now?

We can only take a maximum of 8 people in Spain due to space in our accommodation, so please book now before it’s too late.

What’s the investment?

Please see above for the full investment and what's included.

Is the writing retreat for me?

If you’re not sure whether the writing retreat is for you, please contact me to arrange a chat to find out more.
